How We Review

The standards behind every shortlist, comparison and recommendation we publish.

A useful recommendation starts with the reader’s job—not a product’s marketing checklist.

Our four-stage review process

1. Define the use case

We establish who the product is for, the problem it should solve and the constraints that matter.

2. Build the comparison set

We identify credible alternatives and compare equivalent plans rather than convenient headline prices.

3. Evaluate the experience

We examine setup, everyday usability, performance, support, privacy and cancellation friction.

What we score

  • Core capability: Does the product reliably do the job it promises?
  • Ease of use: Can a typical customer reach value without unnecessary complexity?
  • Value: Is the total cost justified after introductory offers expire?
  • Trust: Are policies, ownership, privacy and support practices clear?
  • Fit: Which users benefit most—and who should choose something else?

How rankings work

Scores summarize our editorial assessment; they are not mathematical guarantees. A lower-ranked product may still be the better choice for a particular budget, platform or workflow. Companies cannot buy a higher position in our rankings.

Updates and corrections
We review important pages when prices, plans, ownership or product capabilities change. Material errors are corrected promptly and, where useful, explained to readers.
